How about a Quest for Real Practical Wisdom?
Wouldn't you like to know how to avoid the mistakes that make your life miserable? More importantly wouldn't you like to know how to maintain from now on a vibrant healthy body and an enthusiastic mind whatever happens so that you can create the life you really want and establish long lasting happy relationship at home and at work?
For centuries religious leaders and philosophers told human beings how they should behave. Today the need for a generally accepted Personal Life Guide and Moral Compass becomes more urgent than ever. To adapt to the modern world's increasing complexities the time has come to develop together new rules to allow the optimal development of each person and a peaceful survival of the human race.
What we are suggesting here has nothing to do with yet another political movement, religion, cult or sect. It is the exact opposite. Sects have for mission to separate their believers from the rest of the world. We ask all human beings, whatever their belief system may be, to help develop together this new perspective on life for the 21st century. Aren't we partially responsible of the world we live in?
Why such a quest?
So far rules have been imposed upon us by religious or other powers: "Do as we say and you will go to paradise, do not do it and you will go to hell!" This is how most religions reward and punish to motivate their followers. Every country has also defined a set of legal rules to make life in group somehow possible.
Laws however apply mostly to limitations of freedom and acceptance of a state power over the individuals:"Don't do this or else..!" There is nothing wrong with rules like "Love thy neighbor as thyself!" or "don't steal, don't murder", but what about commands like "Convert the infidels or kill them!"? Is this acceptable in the modern world?
Despite the benevolent ideals of most religions, religious wars made too many victims in the past. Isn't time to stop and think anew? What about guidance to live a better life here and now whatever happens after death? Apart from true believers, who really knows what happens then?
As new discoveries are made daily in all aspects of sciences and knowledge, where is the guidance that integrates the phenomenal amount of information available to humanity to live a life that has meaning for self and for others? How to live to the best of one's potential to create a better world for everyone on this planet, now and in the future? Where is "Life, the User's Manual". Why not work together to write it?
What can it be?
Our intent is to define a new code of conduct that promotes for everyone a long, healthy, happy, caring and productive life taking into account the constant development of different sciences and discoveries. It has to do, but is not limited to questions like:
- Why not love and appreciate the value of each life, your own included?
- Why not promote prevention, not try to fight disease when it is often too late?
- How can everyone build his or her own best possible body, mind and spirit?
- How to replace destructive habits with wellness promoting ones?
- How to master emotional states to reach worthy goals in spite of obstacles?
- How to help people grow and prosper without being jealous of their successes?
- Why not give each life a meaning by establishing a personal life mission?
- How to enjoy and create a better life instead of losing time and energy criticizing?
- How to start character building and choose one's personal moral compass?
- Is instant gratification the only way or the best way for the pursuit of happiness?
- Why not define rules of conduct that integrate the fact that human beings are at the same time unique individuals deserving the full development of their own potential, members of the human race fully responsible of their actions towards others and co-creators of the world in general?
Who can be involved?
Every one, believer of a religion or not, can participate in the definition of a universal code of personal conduct for modern human beings. This has nothing to do with replacing any belief system or religion, just a quest to better ways to live together and fully enjoy the privilege to be alive.
Where does it start?
The Internet allows access to an ever growing number of persons on this planet. It seems the ideal channel to create, develop and promote the concept of Universal Wisdom. Making this new use of the global brain now technically available could only benefit humankind. Then each one can enjoy promoting it locally among his or her circle of influence leaving any one entire freedom to believe whatever they want or chose to believe, just offering a new perspective on life updated with today's available knowledge.
When is the take off date?
This development is long overdue and can start immediately. The tragic events that happen every day in the world can only be stopped if this quest for Universal Wisdom becomes the focus of all conscious human beings.
How can it be done?
So far religions have been mostly created by prophets believed to have direct contacts with the gods or unique god and then promoted by their followers. Why not use a more modern approach? Having every one volunteer to participate in the definition of a Universal Wisdom acceptable by all? Isn't it time for every one to bring his or her contribution to the creation of a better world?
There must be a better way!
I look and see on the TV all sorts of horrors.
I read the press to see only new versions of the same.
I listen to the radio and hear that the world is falling apart.
It will soon be so hot that life on earth will become impossible.
Some religions even hope that the Apocalypse is for tomorrow.
Doctors seem reduced to alleviate symptoms instead of curing patients.
Politicians promise paradise on earth only to create havoc once in power.
Fanatics promote a culture of death as solution to all these problems.
Children are starving in poor countries while people are getting obese in rich ones.
The more people have the less they give and even enjoy what they have.
More and more become addict to chemical substances or destructive behaviors.
Traditional values are replaced by a moral black hole.
And yet,
Everyday new born babies discover the joy of love and the warmth of caring parents.
Everyday someone enjoy the beauty of the rising sun while most don't even see it.
Everyday children learn new positive ways to relate to people and discover the world.
Everyday scientists and lay people find out new techniques to improve the quality of life.
Everyday some ignorance is replaced by true knowledge.
As Robert Ingersoll said long ago so well:
Ignorance is the only slavery.
Happiness is the only good.
The time to be happy is now,
The place to be happy is here,
The way to be happy is to make others so.
Wisdom is the science of happiness.
So why not enjoy now and start increasing the divine beauty of this world?
